Nutrition & Detox

Did you know that the majority of children with ASD, ADHD, and other learning and behavioural challenges have immature digestive systems and can’t absorb much of the nutrition from what they eat?

In fact, virtually all of them are fussy eaters with very limited diets, which means that they can’t possibly get the proper nutrition for fueling the brain and body.

Not only that, they might be sensitive to certain foods or have gut dysbiosis, which creates an array of symptoms that you would never relate to what they eat.

Food sensitiveness symptoms:

  • Tummy aches

  • Irritability and/or emotional breakdowns

  • Refusing to eat

  • Picky eating

  • Aggression

  • Diarrhea, constipation or painful stools

  • Bloating

  • Food cravings and

  • Allergies

There is no magic bullet to unraveling the whole complexity of learning challenges and their relationship to nutrition, nor food can be the only contributor to it.

However, nutrition and gut health are a major player in neurodevelopment during childhood.

In my practice, I use the most trusted functional tests to determine the overall functioning of nutritional and metabolic pathways, toxins exposure and IgG food sensitivities and allergies.

Whether you have done lots of dietary and nutrition interventions in the past, or you are new to the relationship between the gut and the brain, you will likely need to address some of the markers on these tests to unlock your child's full potential.

When you book a nutritional coaching session we will discuss which test is the most indicated depending on the symptoms.

Functional Tests

Organic acids are products of the body’s metabolic pathways. Evaluation of these metabolites provides insight into important areas related to gut health, mitochondrial dysfunction, neurotransmitter status, indicators of detoxification and macronutrient breakdown and nutritional status.

Mycotoxins, produced by certain mold species, are some of the most prevalent toxins. These compounds have been recognized as a growing global health concern due to their acute and chronic adverse health impacts.

Many children with neurological challenges are affected by these toxins, which can be challenging to diagnose without proper testing due to vague and often varied symptoms.

IgG food sensitivities provide a useful guide for personalized rotation/elimination diets with clinical impact associated with a variety of diseases. It is a comprehensive food sensitivity test that measures antibodies to 190 common foods, herbs, and spices typically found in Western, Asian, and Mediterranean diets also includes results for candida and yeast.
